Financial LIteracy class for 2024 and beyond
The state has implemented a new Financial Literacy class graduation requirement for the class of 2024 and beyond. This class poses a problem for performing arts classes because it is one semester. We are working with the administration to provide other options to satisfy this credit such as zero period options, summer online class, or an asynchronous version of the material. Please be patient as we work out the details. Do not drop band if you want to continue with it! We have had issues with other classes that you may have to put off until a later time like your senior year instead of taking it "on schedule" with other members of your class. The music department is committed to finding alternative solutions so you can keep taking performing classes!
Instrument Loan Agreements
If you have a school instrument, the yearly rental fee is $75. Thanks to the many years of successful fruit sales, we have quality instruments that we are able to supply students with for each year. They also require maintenance which will now cost more money because of COVID-19 protocols. If you have an issue with payment please let me know as soon as possible. We are only accepting online payments at this time.
Please fill out the attached loan agreement form with all of the items you have from the school, serial number, and personal information. You are not responsible for any repair fees once this fee has been paid. Please make arrangements with me to have school instruments repaired as soon as the problem arises.
EXAMPLE: Percussion: Snare drum, Snare stand, Bongos
Example: Trumpet JZ serial #: 0002829

Why take band when you could be concentrating your time and efforts on more STEM subjects? Read this Washington Post article about the skills needed to succeed in the workplace. Very ironic that it comes from Google since Sergey Brin is an alumnus. Enjoy and keep doing the thing you love like music, drama, art, foreign language, and sports. All the tops skills Google is looking for come from those things.
